【Artistic Translator Program】"Video Series by Shimabuku, the Artistic Translator of the Okayama Art Summit 2025, " has started.

A video series has started, featuring Shimabuku, who has been appointed as the Artistic Translator for the Okayama Art Summit 2025, guiding viewers through the city from an artistʼs unique perspective.

Shimabuku, who has participated in the Okayama Art Summit several times in the past and has been visiting the city since childhood due to his mother's roots in Okayama, introduces some of the city's attractive spots.
The first video, “Nishikawa Ryokudo Park” (2 minutes 20 seconds), was released on our official YouTube channel on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Shimabuku (1969, Japan) /Artistic Translator of the Okayama Art Summit 2025 / Artist

Born in Kobe in 1969. Currently based in Naha, he is active around the world. Since the early 1990s, he has traveled to many places both in Japan and abroad, producing video works, sculptures, performances, installations, and other works related to the lives and cultures of the people who live there, as well as new forms of communication. His works sometimes extend to the relationship between living things and humans. His style, which is full of poetry and humor while also metaphorically inspiring people, has earned him worldwide acclaim. He will serve as the newly established artistic translator for Okayama Art Summit 2025, and will participate as an artist in Okayama Art Summit 2025, following Okayama Art Summit 2016 and 2022.
