Anicka Yi to exhibit at Venice Biennale

Artist Anicka Yi, who participated in Okayama Art Summit 2016, is joining the main exhibition at the Venice Biennale which will be held in Venice from 11th May.

Yi was born in Seoul, Korea in 1971. She is currently based in New York. Her work has been exhibited globally, including the one at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum as a result of winning the Hugo Boss Prize 2016.

At the exhibition of Venice Biennale which will be curated by Mr. Ralph Rugoff, there will be works of 79 artists. Her work engages with the evolutionary transformation of the human and its companion species in the face of radical environmental and technological change. She says “this work explores how synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, and rapid climate change disrupt conventional human notions of autonomy, individuality, and even basic survival.”
