The latest project, CORRESPONDENCES, by the New York– and Berlin-based contemporary sonic arts group Soundwalk Collective (a guest participant in the Okayama Art Summit 2025) and global cultural icon Patti Smith—artist and poet—will be presented in Tokyo and Kyoto starting in April 2025.

CORRESPONDENCES is an ever-evolving project between Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith. Spanning over ten years, it traverses a wealth of geographies, histories and their natural environments, and will be presented in both exhibition and performance form. The exhibition will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo from 26 April to 29 June, while performances will take place at the South Hall of ROHM Theatre Kyoto on 29 April and the Opera Palace, New National Theatre, Tokyo on 2 and 3 May.

The CORRESPONDENCES performances will premiere in Japan on Tuesday 29th April (National Holiday), with a matinee and evening performance at ROHM Theatre Kyoto. The performances will be held in collaboration with MODE and form part of the KYOTOPHONIE
Borderless Music Festival 2025 Spring programme, a sister event to KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival 2025, which will take place from 12 April to 11 May.

CORRESPONDENCES is the first initiative of the MOT Plus Project by the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Launched in 2025, MOT Plus serves as a platform for experimental projects that move beyond conventional exhibition formats to encompass performances, film
screenings and other works. Co-organised with YY and supported by MODE, the exhibition marks the first in an ongoing series.
